WALLPAPER INSTALLATION GUIDE
From preparation to the perfect finish
1. Acclimatise the wallpaper:
Store the rolls in the room where they will be installed for at least 24 hours. This helps prevent shrinkage.
2. Check the room temperature:
The ideal temperature is between 18 and 25 °C. Avoid temperatures that are too cold or too warm.
3. Prepare the wall:
• Smooth, clean and free from grease
• Remove any old wallpaper residue and fill any holes
• The surface should be neutral and even – if necessary, use a pigmented primer or lining paper to even out the surface
• Plastered walls? → Prime them before installation!
4. Switch off the electricity:
• Remove sockets and light switches
MARKING GUIDELINES
1. Use a spirit level to draw a vertical line approximately one wallpaper width from the left-hand corner of the wall.
2. Tip: If the wallpaper is wider than the wall, reduce the distance slightly. This creates an overlap at the edge that can be trimmed later.
➤ This ensures a clean finish, even on uneven or crooked walls.
CHECK THE MATERIAL & PREPARE THE PASTE
1. Carefully unpack the wallpaper and check it for any damage.
2. Mix the wallpaper paste according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use only a high-quality paste suitable for non-woven wallpaper.
3. Prepare the first strip:
Apply a generous, even layer of paste directly to the wall, extending slightly beyond the first guideline.
INSTALLING THE WALLPAPER
1. Apply the first strip:
• Position it exactly vertically, following the guideline rather than the corner of the wall
• Apply the wallpaper from top to bottom
• If an overlap has been allowed for, leave a few centimetres extending beyond the top edge
2. Remove air bubbles:
• Smooth the wallpaper from the centre outwards using a wallpaper roller or a soft cloth
• Pierce larger bubbles carefully with a fine needle
• Wipe away any visible paste immediately
3. Apply the second strip:
• Apply paste again, extending beyond the next guideline
• Hang the strips edge to edge
• Carefully align the design
FINISHING & FINAL DETAILS
1. Trim the edges:
• Use a sharp utility knife along the edge of the wall or use a cutting ruler
2. Sockets & light switches:
• Press the wallpaper firmly into place
• Then carefully cut out the openings
