RISO PRINTING – FROM PAINTING TO GRAPHIC ART
Risography is a distinctive Japanese printing technique that is still relatively unknown in Europe. Similar to screen printing, it uses a stencil-based process, but achieves an impressive level of detail through laser-cut master films.
Each colour is printed separately, with its own master film and printing pass. The result is multi-coloured artwork created through a craft-based process, with visible depth and texture.
Our Riso prints are based on paintings by Kata Lips. Through risography, these works take on a completely new, graphic interpretation – vibrant, vivid and unmistakable.
The inks are made from plant-based oils such as soy and rice bran, while the master films are made from sustainable fibres such as hemp or banana leaves. This makes each print not only an aesthetic, but also an environmentally conscious original.
