RISO PRINT
Risography is a Japanese printing technique relatively unknown in Europe. The stencil printing process used in this process is very similar to screen printing, but achieves more detail due to the lasered master foils.
As with screen printing, only one colour can be printed at a time. A motif with four colours is accordingly produced in four individual printing passes. A separate master film is created for each individual colour.
The inks used have a base of soybean and rice bran oil, and the master sheets are made of hemp or banana leaf fibers. This makes risography a health and environmentally friendly, colour-saturated original printing process.
